Hi,
my name is Luciano and i write from italy.
I want buy a used stromr to go to work.
I have found a st1 years 2015 with about 6000 km (522w battery and motor 500w): price 2000 € and the seller give me also a new main board like spare parts.
I need to do about 48 km/day, Suburban road with no climbs.
For the moment, i go to works with a Ebike Haibike (sduro with battery 400w: about 80 km with one charge).
Could I cover the daily distance with the stromer ??
Does the 2015 model have any problems in which I may run?

Hey Luciano, if the battery would be new/in perfect condition the range with full support will be around 30-40km, depending on circumstances such as rider weight, wind, temperature, etc.

If the battery is 5 years old, the range is most probably less. If you have the opportunity to charge your battery at work, then you will need that. It is hard to say anything more about the range. Best way us to test this yourself.
Maybe you can find a good revision company to replace the cells of the battery. It is not without risk, it's hard to tell if good quality is delivered, but revision is cheaper than e new battery, which is the other option.

The ST1 does not have any structural issues and 6.000km is not that much for a ST1. But you still need to check the regular bike stuff such as rims, bearings, drivetrain etc. Maybe the owner can show you the maintenance reports.

Hi Stromeur,
thank you very much for your reply.
Unfortunatly is not to simple to find a dealer in Italy that lets you try bikes. S-pedelecs are not widespread.
I have ask to some dealer to rent a bike for a few day, but for the moment i don't find a dealer thet do this.
Also the seller of the bike is about 300km from my home...so i cant try it before to buy.
Normaly when i go to work i have time ...so i don't need to go fast..but after the summer al lunch, i need to take my children from school..so i need to go very fast.
I think the stromer is the solution to continue cycling to work..but new is very expansive for me..and so i'm looking for a II hand bike.

It all depends on the quality of the battery after 5 years, and if you can charge it at work or not. I don't think that it is wise to spend 2k on a bike that you can't test. Also, support will be a problem if you have no Stromer dealer nearby.

I can recharge at work without problems.
I think you're right: my main problem is assistance.
Before to buy it i need to find someone that can help me if i have some problem.

may it's better that before i find some dealer that can help me; and after buy a bike.

I'm thinking whats Stromeur says is true. It's better paying something more and having a good bicycle maker. It's my personal experience. Beware a bargain without good assistance.

And calculate a new battery with your bike. After 5 years that battery probably has 60% capacity left. If it is more you are lucky... So don't see it as a 2000 Euro bike, see it as a 2000 Euro + 350 Euro for revision or 2000 + x Euro for new battery bike. If that price is still a good deal for you: go a head. If not: don't do it.

I agree. Add replacement/revision of the battery to your budget, if possible. Otherwise, don't buy the bike.
And check for local support options from a Stromer specialist.

For me it is a lot of money for a bike of five years old. A new one with a battery of 522 Wh cost about 4200 euro. (In holland) its also a new designed bike. Your second hand bike with no guarantee (?) Is "only" 1300 euro cheaper with a new battery. And five year older. I know, 1300 euro is still a lot of money.

That's more than double the amount the OP was planning to spend.

I had the same considerations when I bought my ST1 X in 2017 with 614Wh battery. I was one of very few not to upgrade the battery upon purchase, all due to budget.

The OP should realize that this purchase is probably not finished with 2k. In the best possible case, it will take around 350-450 extra to get the battery in good shape again, if revision is possible in Italy.

Is 2.400 euro for an older model ST1 with revisioned 612Wh battery worth the money, given the fact that a re-designed ST1 with 522Wh battery costs around 1.800 euro more? In the end this depends on budget, even more so when budget is tight.

If my budget was limited, if battery revision is possible in my country and if regional support is available: I would talk down the price for another 250-350 euro's, make the 300km trip, do an extensive test-ride and I would buy the bike if the rest of it is technically fine.
